Structured Learning Experience

New Jersey Department of Education Office of Career Readiness provides training for thee schools CTE Teachers and staff  in  State Law, Labor Guidelines and OSHA Regulations to reduce risk to  NJ adolescents occupational safety and health hazards in secondary school and work environments. As a CTE educator and STL certified I have integrated those safety standards to inform my students in Business classroom , after-school clubs and during community volunteering activities.

Required Courses

Federal Wage and Hour and Child Labor Laws, Regulations, and Hazardous  Course
The course content covers various federal wage and hour and child labor laws, regulations, and hazardous orders governing minors in the workplace under the Fair Labor Standards Act and not more stringently addressed by New Jersey state laws or regulations. Included are federal exemptions for special needs/disabled workers.
 
 
New Jersey Wage and Hour and Wage Payment and Child Labor Laws, Regulations, and Hazardous  Course 
The content of this course covers various NJ wage and hour and child labor laws and punishments relating to violations of such laws. Specific topics covered include types of employment, minimum age requirements, hours of work permitted, and prohibited work hours regarding child employment.
 
 
OSHA 10 Plus for General Industry
The content of this course covers various topics including fire safety and emergency exit and action plans, personal protective equipment (PPE), workplace violence, ergonomics, hazard communications, and other federal requirements.
 
 
Designing & Implementing Student Training Plans
The content of this course covers various topics regarding NJ administrative code, the role of the SLE coordinator, steps to begin a SLE program, and developing and implementing forms for the Worksite Analysis, Business/Agency agreement, Individualized Student Training Plan, and Worksite Evaluation.
